Driving Lessons

So today I passed my driving test (Woohoo!) and wanted to again advertise my instructor, Terry. He’s an incredibly good and helpful instructor, and has taught me thoroughly on every aspect of driving, getting me through my theory with only 3 wrong marks, and my practical with only 4 minor faults. You can contact him on 01225 705 275 or on 07546 496 386.

He currently gives two hours free, and I’m sure you’ll see how good an instructor he is in that time :D

New Age Mothers Of Funk

I am now able to reveal my other band that has been bubbling away for a few months now. We are a classic funk/soul/blues/jazz covers ensemble, The New Age Mothers Of Funk. We have Emma Underwood on vocals, Jaz Oehley on guitar and vocals, Paddy Spruce on drums and myself on bass. We are occasionally joined by Rob Hague on Hammond Organ. Check out our Soundcloud page, which is now on the Blogroll, for a few tracks we’ve laid down over the last few months.

There’s also a bass listed that my friend is looking to sell. Please retweet, re-post, reblog etc… Continue reading

Hell Death Fury and Port Erin at The King’s Arms.

I’ve not written anything particularly meaningful on here for a few months now. Last night I managed to get myself to a gig for the first time since I was probably in a band! I had tweeted earlier in the day: “Everyone down to the Kings Arms tonight for some huge bands including Hell Death Fury and PORT ERIN!! Holy cheese balls!!!” And holy cheese balls indeed! Ant Steps On An Elephant’s Toe

I just wanted to share this video of Jaco Pastorius with Albert Mangelsdorff on trombone and Alphonse Mouzon on drums at the Trilogue concert in Berlin in 1976. They’re performing the last piece of the night, “Ant Steps On An Elephant’s Toe”. Insane trombone playing and a brilliant solo from Jaco in the middle. I’ve had it on loop all afternoon!
